Carpenter’s Union Representative Matt Hurley visited the La Plata KTEC juniors and seniors to share insight into the opportunities available through the carpentry and skilled trades pathway. Hurley spoke about the value of apprenticeships, the importance of hands-on learning, and the wide range of career options within the Carpenters Union. His presentation offered real-world guidance to students exploring future careers, and many left with a greater understanding of how the trades can provide strong, rewarding career paths.

On November 19, a group of seniors traveled to State Tech in Linn for a college visit. Attending the trip were Ashlynn Lewis, Hannah Mitchell, Joel Hunt, Hunter Tuggle, and Paxytn Jones. During the visit, students toured campus facilities and learned about many of the hands-on programs State Tech offers such as Agriculture Operations, Computer Networking & Cyber Security, Electrical Distribution Systems, Medical Radiologic Technology, Welding Technology, Physical Therapy Assistance and Utility Construction. They had the opportunity to ask questions about admissions, financial aid, and careers connected with these programs helping them explore future career paths and a clearer understanding of the training and opportunities available after high school.
This visit rounds out the Fall college visits that are a part of the RootEd program at LHS.

Team Pictures for (JH basketball & Cheer) (HS Basketball & Cheer) will be on Mon, Nov 24, 2025 2:15pm at the HS gym. 6th graders will be brought to the HS by coach. JH Uniforms will be given out before pictures.

On October 22, students Layne M., Hannah M., Adasyn O., Lane H., Ashlynn L., Allie H., and Shaylee B. participated in two college visits to explore post-secondary options. The group toured State Fair Community College in Sedalia and Missouri Valley College in Marshall.
During the visits, students learned about academic programs, campus life, and scholarship opportunities. They also had the chance to talk with admissions representatives and current college students, gaining valuable insight into what college life is like and how to prepare for the next step after graduation.

These Bulldogs played hard against Novinger on Wednesday and will move on to play on Thursday vs Linn Co at 8:45. Let's go Bulldogs! Go, fight, win!





These LadyDogs gave it their all in a nail biter, cliff hanger, thriller, sit on the edge of your seat kinda game. They battled on the court and came out ahead which showed their grit and determination. The cheerleaders were as loud and proud as ever! They won vs Brashear 40 to 36 and will move on to play in the Championship game vs Atlanta on Saturday at 6:45. Thank you to our cheerleaders who have showed up every night with spirit cheering boys and girls on....we appreciate YOU!

On October 29, the following students attended a college visit to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville: Dillon M., Shaylee B., Ashlynn L., Haylea T., and Macy D. During the visit, students toured campus facilities, explored academic programs, and learned more about student life opportunities at Northwest. The experience gave them valuable insight into college life and helped them consider future educational goals.
